UX UI design, Branding, Web Design

Creating a modernized, functional, and ADA compliant website for El Super Markets, a $3 billion grocery store chain owned by Grupo Chedraui.

The Challenge

El Super Markets sought to optimize its North American market web presence, with 64 stores across California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, and Texas. Our team addressed gaps in readability, functionality, site responsiveness, and branded design. The website was revamped to meet ADA compliance laws in the State of California, and ElSuperMarkets.com’s hosting capacity was enhanced to support 14,000 visitors each week.

THE solution

We applied principles of universal design to build a brand-immersive, accessible website for El Super Markets that met ADA compliance requirements. Our research allowed us to deeply understand El Super’s customers and how they interact with the brand online. Insights showed that most site visitors accessed ElSuperMarkets.com through mobile devices, prompting the website to be optimized for functionality and user-friendliness across all devices.

DESIGN & TEST

  • Over the course of a week, low-fidelity sketches

typography

We use two font families: Antenna & OpenSans. Antenna Font is our Brand type, being more strong and memorable than Open Sans, but Open Sans can help us in body texts, improving the readability and, simplifying the experience to interact with long paragraphs.
